Pastor Donnie Pennington was born and raised in Georgia. In 1950, his family moved to Barrow County where Donnie attended school and graduated from Winder=Barrow High school. For many years Donnie and his wife, Nancy, ran the Dari-Delite in Winder.
One night in 1979 Donnie surrendered all his life to Jesus Christ. Not long after coming to faith, Donnie was called to preach. He attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also served as a deacon and teacher at Winder First Baptist Church.
From 1983-1985, Donnie pastored Antioch Baptist Church in Godfrey. In 1986, he accepted the call to serve as pastor at Church at Winder where he is today.
Donnie had the privilege to minister around the world traveling to India, Africa, Ireland, China, South America, and Mexico to share the life-changing power of Jesus with those who have not heard.
He has also been active in the local community. Donnie has served on the board of the Winder YMCA and Come Alive Ministries, a pregnancy care center.
Donnie was recognized with the 2001 Barrow County Chamber of Commerce Meritorious Service award.
